The first impression you get when you walk into the Cancer House of Hope is its home-like setting. A white raised ranch in a residential area on Westfield Street in West Springfield, it has kitchen and couches like a home, a giant fish tank, and a backyard water feature and fire pit, as well as an adorable comfort dog, a Shih Tzu-Havanese mix named Abby, who happily greets you, tail wagging.
The homey, non-clinical atmosphere is warm and welcoming - it is this relaxing vibe that those going through a cancer diagnosis and treatment truly appreciate. Cancer House of Hope provides a variety of support services, counseling, wellness programs, recreational activities, including a wig boutique, massage, reiki, in person and virtual yoga, relaxation and hypnotherapy, support groups, therapeutic horseback riding and a host of other outdoor activities in the warmer months. The mission is support, friendship, community and optimism. It is open to everyone and all services are free of charge.
