Story
I have joined #TEAMLC to run the London Marathon 2025. Please help me to support everyone affected by a blood cancer diagnosis in the UK.
Our Dad was one of the 34,000 people affected annually by Leukaemia, 10 years ago. Sadly, whilst Dad fought incredibly bravely, he lost his battle with Leukaemia a year later. It was a really difficult time for us a family to see our Dad suffering so much. It's time for me to give something back and help others suffering in the same way.
I have a year to prepare my body for a pretty challenging ordeal. It's not my first marathon, but the last was over 20 years ago! In that time I've suffered a couple of collapsed lungs and an op that to rectify them that didn't go quite to plan. I already know the challenge this time around is going to be way harder than my previous efforts. At 51 I'm not quite the physical specimen I once was!
I am going to document my journey over the next year so watch out for plenty of my fund raising and marathon prep spam!
Leukaemia Care is a national charity dedicated to ensuring that anyone affected by blood cancer receives the right information, advice and support. We're here to support them through their diagnosis, treatment and beyond.
