Story
Over the last two years, The Brain Tumour Charity is one that has become very close to our hearts. Since my diagnosis with a benign brain tumour in August 2021, life’s been a bit of a whirlwind of appointments, scans, medications, a spot of brain surgery and all the fun & games the recovery process brings.
Needless to say, it’s been bloody hard. Recovery has taken much longer than I first thought and has thrown me so many challenges, both physically and mentally, it would be impossible to sum it up in a few sentences. I am incredibly lucky to have a brilliant medical team supporting this and will forever be thankful for the amazing care provided by the NHS, but there have been occasions between waiting for referrals or appointments to come through that we’ve found ourselves feeling a little lost. This is where The Brain Tumour Charity came in.
I have been able to access resources to help understand my diagnosis and what to expect, joined support groups allowing me to connect with other people in similar situations, been given access to six weeks of counselling that didn’t cost me a penny & received specialised support whilst trying to navigate the benefits system (which I quickly learnt is not particularly conducive with an acquired brain injury). I wouldn’t be where I am now without support from them. We’re hoping that you’ll be able to help us to say a really big thank you to them through some fundraising.
Not quite content with becoming my carer, chief hair washer for a brief time, chef, unofficial counsellor and so many other things, my brilliant husband has now also signed up to run the Brighton Marathon in aid of this great cause. We’re all too aware that times are really tough at the moment, but would be so grateful if you were able to donate a small amount to support the amazing work they do.
Thank you so much for taking time to read this! ❤️
