For Ramat HaNegev, a region in the Negev, investment in innovative, high-quality education is a top priority, not only for the welfare of their communities but also as a key component for the successful development of the Negev. Ramat HaNegev is one of Israel's largest municipalities, with 8,000 residents spread across 20 villages, yet is still considered a periphery region - it's distance from any major cities makes access to financial and social support difficult. Children in Ramat HaNegev must travel far from home to access the same quality of education found in larger cities. With this unrealistic travel burden, many students only receive some education before leaving to find work. As Ramat HaNegev's population grows, there is a growing need to fund and build key educational facilities and increase support to hundreds more children, closer to home. Bringing quality education (and other crucial social services) to periphery communities is one of JNF Canada's top priorities.
