Paul's London 2025 and 13 Ultra Marathons for Mind That's over 500 miles

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Over 2023/24 I completed 12 ultra marathons to raise money for Mind ranging from 50k to 100k. I almost finished a 100 mile race, but had to pull out at 82 miles with a pulled hamstring. Boo. 12 out of 13 isn't bad.
The idea was to finish off with the London Marathon in 2024 to hit my target of 500 miles of races, but unfortunately I went and got myself injured and had to defer this place to 2025 so fell just short and that's why my fundraising is still active.
Before I had to defer, the original wording on this page did have more than a nod to my mental health issues, and these issues are indeed why I run for Mind. I have been fortunate enough to have had private treatment for my quirks and foibles, but not everyone has this luxury, so if you can spare a penny or two to contribute to my fundraising it would be absolutely fantastic. It will help them a lot.
In 2025 I'll be running with a bigger grin on my face for another reason. In September last year I had an issue with the electrolytes in my body which, combining with a drop in my immune system and the side effects of some medication, left me unable to move or speak and I spent 3 1/2 weeks in hospital recovering in a stroke ward. This was quite unpleasant. Either I was lucky, or maybe because I was fit, but I have now recovered almost 100% (limbs occasionally forget to move and I still jumble up words!). I now remind myself every day that physical health is one of the greatest gifts you can have, but also of how important the heath of your body is to the health of your mind.
To those that originally donated for last years efforts - I thank you from the bottom of my heart (even the made up donations that was in fact me 😁)
To everyone else, if you could help me hit my target for my endeavours I will love you for ever!
