Story
Last year I completed 10 ultra marathons to raise money for Mind (everyone that knows me knows that I do this as I struggle with my mental health what with being bipolar and all). These were:
Cotswold Ultra 53k ✔Wendover Woods 50 mile ✔ (although 🤪 at mile 47!)Round Reading Ultra 50k ✔Big Pilgrimage 54k Ultra ✔Thames Path Ultra Challenge 100k ✔Weavers Way 50 mile ✔Portsmouth Coastal Waterside Ultra Marathon 50k ✔North Downs Way Ultra 50k ✔Chester Ultra 50 mile ✔Centurion One Slam 400 miles ✔Hundred Hills 50k ✔
The ticks meant that I completed them (ish - Wendover didn't go to plan).
The idea was to finish off with the London Marathon and then run the Thames Path 100 mile (or attempt to!) as the final hurrah. I can't put these down as I pulled my hamstring chasing our dog a few weeks before London. Bugger. I deferred both of these races, then entered some more so I could finish off my challenge.
So on the 3rd of August I am undertaking the first of my new challenges - the North Downs Way 100 mile race. If I complete this then anything else I do is an added bonus. This is a tough race and it is going to take every last bit of my inner and outer strength to complete it. If I don't, I just move on to the next one.
My plans after that are to do the Wendover Woods one and complete it this time, then the London Marathon 2025, and then the Thames Path 100.
This will be a long way from how crap I felt in 2022.
To those that originally donated for last years efforts - I thank you from the bottom of my heart (even the made up donations that was in fact me 😁)
To everyone else, if you could help me hit my target for my endeavours I will love you for ever!
