Its that time again where I’ve got my begging bowl out!!
After running the London marathon last year I never thought I would ever get the chance to do it again, especially through the ballot entry. Like the 98% of people in October I got that Email saying I was unsuccessful for a ballot place for the virgin London Marathon 2020. Although I was gutted for not getting a place, I decided to look for another race to challenge myself. So I signed up for the Manchester Marathon on the 5th of April.
Ive been on a running journey since I lost my beautiful son Danny on the 9th March 2017, caused by an undiagnosed heart arrhythmia called Brigade Syndrome. So far I’ve done 6 half marathons, 1 full marathon and three 10km races, as a family we have raised over £11500 for the charity CRY, Cardiac Risk in the Young.
On my journey I came across a running community on Facebook Called Fordy Runs. This group is just amazing, I’ve made so many friends within the group. Its like one big family, everyone giving you support and encouragement with what ever race you are taking part in. If I had never found this group I don’t think I would have carried on running after the London Marathon last year.
Being a member of Fordy Runs running Club has given me my last opportunity of getting into the London Marathon 2020. Not in a million years did I think I would ever get one of the 3 spots available in the Club ballot. But how wrong was I!!! Even now I still can’t believe I was one of the lucky 3. I feel so honoured to represent FORDY RUNS RUNNING CLUB in the Virgin London Marathon 2020. So not only, I will be running the Manchester marathon on the 5th April, I will also be pounding the pavements in the London Marathon three weeks later. This is going to be a massive challenge, but I’m so looking forward to it.
I will be raising money for the Fordy club’s charity, Teens Unite, a fantastic charity who does amazing things for teenagers all over the country who are battling cancer.
*84% of teenagers and young adults now survive cancer diagnosis for at least five years and need the long term support on Teens Unite.
*Teens Unite Supporting people fighting cancer to live their life, while others search for a cure.
*TODAY Seven young people will hear the words “you have cancer”
So its over to you! My friends and family I need your help. I need to hit my £500 target, so if you could spare a £1, I would really appreciate your donation!
PLEASE,PLEASE share my page…. Lets all help make a difference to someone else’s life.
