Bath Half Marathon 2019 · 17 March 2019 ·

The Bath Half Marathon, is one of the longest established and most popular city centre road events in the UK.

Story

Hi guys, I'm running the Bath Half in March in aid of Alzheimer's Society. I was inspired to do the Bath Half after seeing several of my friends complete it and since I'm in my final year at the University of Bath, this year seems like the perfect year to do it. I don't think I've ever run more than 10km so the 21km I'm hoping to conquer should be a good challenge.

I've chosen to raise money for Alzheimer's Society UK because both my maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather suffered from Alzheimer's before they passed away. Therefore I have witnessed first hand its devastating impact. When Grandma or Grandad Leo couldn't recognise my mum or dad, me, my brother or sister, it was hard to cope with. Your donations can help Alzheimer's Society transform the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, they will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

Here's how your money could help:

  • £50 will help for a PhD researcher to continue research into the causes of dementia, how it can be treated and, ultimately, find a cure
  • £100 could fund the equipment and resources needed for 3 days of a dementia researcher's vital investigations
  • £250 could teach a group of 10 MPs viral information about dementia in a Dementia Friends session in parliament
  • £500 could pay for 700 copies of Alzheimer Society's 'Understanding Your Diagnosis' booklets, helping those recently diagnosed with dementia understand more about the condition and how to come to terms with some of the feelings they might be having

In 2017/18, for every £1 Alzheimer's Society received, they spent 89p on directly improving the lives of people with dementia. The other 11p went towards generating future income.

Thank you for taking your time to come to my page, any donations would be much appreciated.
