Mort's Marathon Challenge for NAWT (#MORT4NAWT)

London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
I've worked at the National Animal Welfare Trust's Clacton Rescue and Rehoming Centre for 16 years as an animal care assistant. As a charity we are reliant on donations to fund our work and although I do my bit during work hours, I also wanted to do something in my own time to support this fantastic place and raise money for the animals in our care . It's no secret that this year has been a challenge for NAWT with the closure of our Somerset Centre and I want to see Clacton continue saving animals now and into the future.
We are a small centre and last year we found forever homes for some 180 animals, each one with their own story. Some have had to be given up because their current owner could no longer care for them, there are so many different reasons this happens. Others have been strays and so often we don't know what they have been through before they come to us. But we care for and get to know each cat and dog that passes through our doors. We bring them back to good health, train them and finally find them a loving forever home.
We never stop caring and are here as long as an animal needs us, offering continued support to everyone that re-homes a pet. Our mission is to promote responsible pet ownership so that one day every pet might have the responsible owner they deserve.
I hope you will support my '26.2 mile moment of madness!' At my age (I'm no spring chicken) this is no easy feat but there's no stronger motivation than seeing the difference this money will make. Thanks for your support - Sarah (Mort)
