Welcome to our 2020 London marathon page!

Story

On the 22nd May, I will be running a half marathon for Teenage Cancer Trust. During these tough times the charity needs our help more than ever. After the postponed London Marathon and certain wards being repurposed to provide support against the virus, the charity needs further help. Offering care and to support young people facing cancer during the coronavirus pandemic.

Today would of been my dear friend Tom Smith’s 22nd birthday. In 2017, we all united and managed to raise £5394.40 for Teenage Cancer Trust. Today, I am setting a target of £750.00. All donations will be greatly appreciated during these tough and uncertain times.

Thank you all for your support and I hope you and your families stay safe.

Message from Teenage Cancer Trust -

Many young people with cancer are particularly at risk from coronavirus (covid-19) due to their treatment affecting their immune system. Many will be feeling more isolated and vulnerable than ever before.

Our priority remains making sure that young people with cancer receive the best treatment, care and support. But, as I’m sure you are aware, NHS Hospital Trusts are under significant strain.

The practical and emotional support our nurses and Youth Support Coordinators give to young people with cancer is more vital now than ever – and these adaptable and brilliant specialists are now doing this from home as well as offering safe face-to-face support on wards.

That’s why we have been developing new online services and tools so our Youth Support Coordinators can continue to give young people the ongoing help they need in this extremely difficult situation.

And in some areas, young people are receiving their treatment in a different place, as some of our units have been temporarily repurposed to provide support against this virus.

It has been amazing and inspiring to see how quickly our team has adapted to make sure young people are still supported.

We’re also very concerned that there has been a 75% drop in referrals from GPs for suspected cancer during this crisis.

Every day, against the backdrop of this national crisis, more young people and their families will be devastated by the words ‘you have cancer’. We cannot and must not let them face the challenge alone.
