Kidnetics at Prisma Health Children's Hospital-Upstate is raising money for Greenville Health Authority
Story
Every year Children's Hospital Radiothon is held in the lobby of Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, broadcasting live on each of the seven Entercom Upstate stations: 106.3 WORD, ESPN Upstate, Classic Rock 101.1, 93.3 The Planet, Magic 98.9, B93.7, and 96.3 The Block. The 2019 Radiothon will be held August 8 and 9.Throughout the two days of Radiothon, on-air personalities share stories and interviews from patients and families who have been served by Prisma Health Children's Hospital-Upstate departments, programs and services. What do Radiothon funds support?Funds raised through Radiothon support special services for patients at Children's Hospital that enhance their experience and give them a sense of normalcy while they are in the hospital. Join me in giving!
KIDNETICS
KIDNETICS is a department of Children’s Hospital of Greenville Health System (GHS) that provides therapeutic services for children on an inpatient and outpatient basis from birth to age 21. Our comprehensive team is made up of registered and licensed occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech/language pathologists. Team members work in conjunction with the child’s family, physician, and school to extend all therapies into the child’s environment and maintain a continuum of care. At KIDNETICS, we strongly believe in family-centered care and consider the patient’s family an active team member in all of our programs and services.
Sam Blackwood
Sam has Fragile X syndrome, which is a congenital condition that causes a range of developmental problems including learning disabilities and cognitive impairment. He also has autism, an anxiety disorder, and ADHD. Since Sam struggles with emotional and behavioral issues, developmental-behavioral pediatricians and therapists teach Sam strategies for good communication as well as emotional and sensory regulation. He currently receives occupational and speech therapy in the Kidnetics department and sees a behavioral-developmental pediatrician to help manage his symptoms.

Among other items, funds raised through this year's Radiothon for KIDNETICS will be used to purchase a Language test kit and a EMG
System. The Language test kit is a comprehensive assessment tool for receptive and expressive language for ages 3-21 years of age. It provides a test specifically for ages preschool and older school ages in English and Spanish versions. The EMG System is a biofeedback machine that provides an opportunity during therapy for us to see a series of complex networks connecting the thoughts in your brain to different functions.
