Story

My Beautiful mum, Lynsey, sadly took her own life in September 2022, at 43 years old after a long battle with mental health.

I was 21 at the time and I am 24 now. My mum was the kindest, most loving, the greatest fun, so care-free, and a pure-hearted woman and mum. She always made me, and Evie feel like the centre of her universe, and we were. She was and will forever be everything to me.

Watching my rock slowly lose herself to emotionally unstable personality disorder and attempt to fight the personality disorder, was a world-altering nightmare to live through. Since my mum and dads passing, I have been attempting to navigate a life without my parents. My grief timeline did not align with my expectations. It has taken me over two years to register that she was really gone. It felt scary to suddenly be so deep in grief over two years into it. Although I have supportive friends and family, I knew that doing something in memory of my mum would help me in guide my own journey of grief.

This is why I will be raising money for Mind by running the London Landmarks Half Marathon. I have done this to dip my toe in the marathon waters in hope to one day, secure a place in The New York Marathon, fulfilling a dream my mum had of taking my sister, and me there.

Mind is an incredible charity that provides vital support and resources for those facing mental health challenges. They offer services like counselling, crisis helplines, and community programs, and they work tirelessly to raise awareness and advocate for better mental health policies. By donating to Mind, you are helping ensure that no one has to face their mental health struggles alone.

Your support means so much to me and can make a significant impact on the lives of those who need it most. Thank you for your generosity in memory of my mum.
