Story
Each year the president of The Foresters Friendly Society selects a charity they consider worthy of encouragement in transforming British society. This year the president, John Springham (at the centre of the photograph) has chosen the Youth Sport Trust.
Youth Sport Trust equips educators and empowers young people with the vision of creating a future where every child enjoys the life-changing benefits of play and sport. Sport gives young people a platform to have their voice heard and a place to feel they belong. The trust channel this power to change young lives to help them build a brighter tomorrow for themselves. The vital work the trust does helps to achieve the self empowerment that is necessary to accomplish. This would not be possible without your generous donations.
To help raise funds, four Foresters members (Glyn Carpenter, Alan Mackinnon, Helen Hicks, and Trish Slade) will embark on a walking tour along Hadrian's wall in the north of England. The ramble starts from Bowness on Solway on the 23rd April 2024 and finishes at either Wallsend, or Tynemouth, on the 28th April. The endpoint will be determined by either fatigue or empowerment. To support them Madelaine Harris has offered logistical help in moving their heavy loads along the wall. All donations in support of this epic trek will go directly to the Youth Sport Trust.
