Story

In 2020, my life changed overnight when I was diagnosed with an anaplastic astrocytoma, a rare and aggressive brain tumour.

The average survival time is around five years.

I decided very early on that I didn’t want this diagnosis to be the end of the story — I wanted it to be the start of something meaningful.

How This Started

Shortly after my diagnosis, friends and family came together to help me fundraise for The Brain Tumour Charity, an organisation that funds vital research and supports families facing diagnoses like mine.

Our first challenge was ambitious:

11,000km run in one month

Groups running 5km every day

Original target: £11,000

We didn’t just hit it — we smashed it, raising £22,000 in 2021.

That moment showed me what’s possible when people rally together.

What Happened Next

Fundraising didn’t stop there.

Over the following years:

My wife and I ran five half marathons across three years

The business I worked for matched donations, doubling impact

We kept pushing, event by event, mile by mile

Then, from 2023–2025, my company chose The Brain Tumour Charity as its official charity partner.

I helped organise and support fundraising events that raised a further £30,000.

Where We Are Now

Together — friends, family, colleagues, and complete strangers — we’ve raised around £80,000.

That’s funding research.

That’s supporting families.

That’s hope being turned into action.

Now, I want to take this to £100,000.
