My name is Alexis Sewell and on Sunday, October 11th, 2026, I will be running the Chicago Marathon as a proud member of Team Girl Scouts Go-Getters.

My goal is to raise a minimum of $2,200 dollars, all of which will go to Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, who has sponsored my spot in this year’s marathon. Running the Chicago Marathon has been a goal of mine. Because of Girl Scouts, I am now able to make this dream come true.

The Girl Scouts are an organization dedicated to empowering young girls to become courageous, confident leaders, to reach their full potential and to make a positive impact in their communities. This mission deeply resonated with me as I reflected on my own journey of personal growth.

About four years ago, I found myself struggling with unhealthy habits, including overeating, eating out of boredom, and a lack of regular physical activity. Recognizing the need for change, I made a commitment to improve my lifestyle. Through balanced nutrition, consistent exercise, and perseverance even when progress felt slow, I gradually transformed my lifestyle. Over the course of two years I lost 95 pounds, a journey that strengthened not only my body, but also my mindset and confidence.

Along the way, I discovered a love for running. It taught me that my weight-loss journey was not a sprint, but a marathon. This race represents everything I’ve learned: with determination, support, and belief in yourself, even the biggest goals are achievable.
