Story
In 2021, I was introduced to the Spinal Injuries Association at a time in my life when everything felt uncertain. It was a moment that felt like starting over, not just for me, but for my family too. It was overwhelming, unfamiliar, and at times, frightening.
During that period, SIA became a source of real support. They provided guidance when I didn’t know where to turn, reassurance when things felt unclear, and a sense that we weren’t facing it all alone. The work they do goes far beyond information, they bring understanding, connection, and hope to people navigating some of the toughest challenges imaginable.
That’s why taking on this bike ride means so much to me.
I’ll be cycling 305km over 3 days alongside around 40 other riders, including individuals living with spinal cord injuries. I’ll be doing it with my Dad, whose support means everything to me and without whom I couldn’t do this. It’s going to be a huge challenge, but it’s one I’m proud to take on for a cause that has such a meaningful impact.
Spinal cord injuries can change lives in an instant. Everyday tasks many of us take for granted can become significant hurdles. Through the SIA services, from expert advice and peer support, to campaigning for better care, SIA helps people rebuild, regain independence, and move forward.
If you’re able to support in any way, it would mean a great deal, not just to me, but to the many people and families who rely on the work SIA does every day.
Thank you for taking the time to read this 💙
