Story
I will be abseiling 90ft over Millers viaduct bridge and canoeing for 1 mile to help support the work of SIA.
Having worked at SIA for 3 and a half years now, I thought it was about time I did my own fundraising challenge. And the abseil will *definitely* be a challenge. I still vividly remember standing at the top of the abseil wall on a school residential trip aged approx. 11, terrified to lean backwards and bounce down the wall. Unfortunately I was too scared to take the plunge, and had to do the walk of shame down the steps, crying, to the mortifying sound of my school friends clapping me (for doing nothing!).
I'd like to rectify this traumatic memory by embracing this opportunity and raising as much as I can for the charity that helps people affected by spinal cord injury overcome their own challenges every day.
Why Your Fundraising Matters
Imagine waking up one day and realising you’ll never walk again. For thousands of people living with spinal cord injuries, this is their reality. Simple tasks we often take for granted—getting dressed, making a cup of tea, or even hugging a loved one—become monumental challenges.
By supporting Spinal Injuries Association, you’re helping us provide life-changing services, from expert advice and peer support to campaigning for better care and opportunities. You’re giving people their independence back.
Thank you.
