The mission of HALOS is to promote safe and nurturing homes for children in kinship care. I have personally been involved with HALOS for over 10 years as a volunteer and more recently as a board member. I feel passionate about their mission and have seen first hand HALOS impact on kinship families.

Children fare much better with family than in foster care. Yet, kinship families don’t receive the same support - financial, case management, or health and mental health services as foster families.

Every day, I hear stories of grandmothers, aunts, sisters, and friends who take in children they love to keep them within the family.
