My inspiration for this fundraiser comes from my grandmother, who was faced with a life-threatening aneurysm. She was airlifted from Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, IL to Northwestern in Chicago, where she underwent hours of open-heart surgery. During the operation, the medical team used numerous units of red blood cells and platelets to sustain her life. It was because of the generosity of blood donors that she was able to make a miraculous recovery.

In honor of my grandmother's memory, I am aiming to raise $2000 to donate a much-needed blood donor bed to the Aurora headquarters. One of these donor beds will enable us to collect 3000 units of lifesaving blood, annually, providing hope and a second chance at life to countless individuals in need. This bed will be placed in honor of my grandmother and will continue her legacy of the caring and generous person that she was.
