Story
Christie Lake Kids has been part of Ottawa’s fabric for over a century, born out of a simple but powerful idea: that children growing up with fewer opportunities deserve fresh air, safety, and the chance to just be kids. What began as a summer camp on the shores of Christie Lake has grown into a year‑round community that walks alongside kids and families when they need it most.
I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors for the past three years, and I continue to be struck by how true the organization has stayed to its origins. The programs have evolved, the reach has expanded, but the heart of Christie Lake Kids hasn’t changed: showing up consistently, building trust, and creating space for kids to thrive.
This year, I’m coming out of retirement and once again will be canoe racing at Mooney’s Bay alongside my fellow board members in support of that mission on June 6th.
I hope you’ll consider giving if you’re able. Your support helps ensure that the promise Christie Lake Kids was founded on continues.
