Story
I’m taking on HYROX this March to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan supports people living with cancer at the moments they need it most. From specialist nurses and emotional support to practical advice and guidance, their work makes a real difference to millions of people across the UK.
I’ve set myself a target of £400, and every donation will help Macmillan continue providing that support.
The reason this challenge matters to me is personal.
When I took on my first HYROX in December, I massively underestimated it. I hadn’t done any running since August. I didn’t adapt my training, nutrition, or preparation. I didn’t properly understand the workouts, distances, or penalty rules and came close to disqualification.
I finished the race, but the aftermath told the real story. I wore the wrong kit and suffered severe chafing that left me sore for days. My legs barely worked for two to three days afterwards. I felt elated crossing the line, but also embarrassed by how little respect I’d given the challenge.
That experience is exactly why I’ve signed up again.
This time, I’m training properly, planning properly, and taking HYROX seriously. I want to give this challenge the respect it deserves, while raising money for a charity that supports people through far tougher battles than mine.
Thank you for any support you’re able to give. It really does mean a lot.✌🏻
