Story
I’m running the 2027 London Marathon for the Spinal Injuries Association in memory of my dad.
Following a cycling accident, Dad suffered a devastating spinal cord injury that left him paralysed from the neck down and initially unable to breathe independently. Against the odds, he pulled through and, with rehabilitation and specialist support, adapted to a completely different way of life.
Most importantly, it gave us precious extra years together. He saw my sister get married, met his grandchildren and even managed a family holiday with us before we sadly lost him in 2020.
Dad was always the sportsman in the family, I definitely am not, so taking on my first marathon feels like a fitting challenge in his memory.
I’m aiming to raise £2,500 for SIA, helping other people with spinal cord injuries and their families get the support they need to rebuild their lives.
