I am honored and excited to have been chosen for the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) charity team, and cannot wait to run the 2026 TCS NYC Marathon on November 1. On my lifetime journey with athletics, I have been unlucky enough to tear my ACL twice, once on each side. Both times, I received surgery at HSS. My first, done by Dr. Allen, was routine, and I loved to tell people that Carmelo Anthony and I shared the same ACL surgeon. In 2018, after getting the ACL tear initially diagnosed in Oregon, where I live, I decided to seek a second opinion at HSS because of the fantastic experience with the first surgery. My dad found Dr. DiFelice, who is a leader & pioneer in ACL repair, rather than a traditional reconstruction. On a trip back east, I saw him for a consult on a regular morning, and after examining me & looking at my MRI, he asked me if I had eaten breakfast. When I said no, he offered to fit me in for surgery that day. I was walking within hours of this surgery, and I skied just a few months later, which is truly incredible to think about. HSS says they are "Where the world comes to get back in the game." For me, this couldn't be more true. I will be forever grateful to HSS for the part they played in getting my body in shape to do all the activities I love.
