Anne's Fundraiser for 2025 Camp Forget-Me-Not/Camp Erin DC

This year, I am fundraising in loving memory of my beautiful cousin, Kyle Brennan Mooney, who died suddenly on November 14, 2024, at the age of twelve.
To know Kyle was to love him. It remains one of the greatest honors of my life—an honor I share with hundreds, if not thousands, of others who were touched by him during his too-short time on earth. Kyle was generous, curious about the world around him, and—most notably for a tween boy—openly loving and affectionate with both adults and peers alike.
I am a former Wendt Center client and a grateful recipient of grief therapy services, which I began shortly after my mother was killed in an accident in November 2003 and continued until I left for college in 2006. I can say, without humor or hesitation, that the Wendt Center saved my life.
That’s why I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to return for my second summer as a volunteer with the tween cohort of Camp Forget-Me-Not/Camp Erin DC on July 12, 2025. Please join me in honoring Kyle by supporting this deeply meaningful organization and program

For more than 25 years, Wendt Center's Camp Forget-Me-Not/Camp Erin DC has been a unique source of joy, support, and healing for grieving children and families in the DC area. Camp has served more than 1,400 grieving children (ages 6-17) by providing a safe space away from their everyday lives. Camp activities allow children to gently explore the normal yet overwhelming process of grief. Wendt Center believes that grief impacts the whole family system, therefore part of each session is dedicated to intentionally integrating caregivers.
Volunteers provide individual attention to campers, ensuring that every child is heard, valued, and honored. Professionally licensed therapists will lead several therapeutic group sessions designed to address the age-specific needs of grieving campers. Camp can only exist with the generous donations of our Wendt Center community. With your help, we can reach even more children in need of compassion and support.
