EIA Bridge Builders - 2024

Story

The rural community of Tuyo Tuyo in Bolivia faces significant challenges due to the Río Tuyo Tuyo, which divides the community and becomes impassable during the rainy season. This situation disrupts daily life, preventing children from attending school, limiting access to healthcare, and hindering agricultural activities and market access. The lack of infrastructure exacerbates these issues, leaving residents isolated and vulnerable.

The Engineers in Action group aims to build a suspended footbridge across the Río Tuyo Tuyo. This bridge will provide safe, year-round access for pedestrians, motorcycles, wheelbarrows, and livestock. By connecting the community, the project will ensure continuous access to education, healthcare, markets, and employment opportunities, significantly improving the quality of life for over 140 community members. Your support can help make this vital infrastructure a reality, fostering resilience and growth in this underserved community.

The EIA Bridge Program's mission is to empower today's volunteers to become tomorrow's global change-makers by building bridges with underserved communities. Since 2006 in our program, thousands of volunteers from 40+ universities and companies across the globe have designed and built 125+ footbridges alongside rural communities in 12 countries, effectively connecting over 150,000 previously isolated people to essential resources.

Those numbers are continuing to grow this year! But it costs a lot money to build these bridges and our volunteers incur a lot of expenses while volunteering their time and expertise. Please consider joining our "Bridge Builder Family" by making a financial contribution today!
