Enbridge Canoe for Kids is the largest annual fundraiser supporting Christie Lake Kids’ Summer Camp—but for me, it represents something much more personal.

As a young person, I was given the opportunity to attend Christie Lake Kids Camp at no cost—an experience that changed the trajectory of my life. What started as a chance to spend time outside the city quickly became a space where I felt supported, challenged, and inspired.

Through Christie Lake Kids, I didn’t just attend camp—I grew with the organization. I became involved in leadership programs that helped me build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self. Along the way, I gained access to mentorship opportunities that guided me through important stages of my development and connected me with individuals who truly believed in my potential.

More importantly, Christie Lake Kids connected me to a community. I built meaningful relationships with other youth who shared similar experiences, relationships that have lasted far beyond camp and continue to shape who I am today.

Now, I have the privilege of serving on the board—giving back to the same organization that gave so much to me. Christie Lake Kids doesn’t just provide a summer camp experience; it creates lasting opportunities, fosters leadership, and builds lifelong connections for youth who need it most.
