Story
My Dad passed away last year after falling into a diabetic coma. He had lived with the disease for over 30 years carefully managing it. Unfortunately in the last few months of his life his diabetes declined and caused him to be in Hosptial for four weeks. After five days of being released from Hosptial his diabetes caused him to slip into a coma at home. He was rushed to ICU at the Royal Berkshire. My sister and I were by his side for five days. We had the painful experience of having to authorise for his life support machine to be switched off. Did you know someone is diagnosed with diabetes every two minutes? As many as 4.9 million people are living with diabetes in the UK right now. Together we can dramatically improve diabetes care, help everyone to manage their diabetes well and increase spending on diabetes research. Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest growing health crisis, working to create a world where diabetes can do no harm. It’s a fight that involves all of us sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together. If I can help just one family to not go through the pain my sister and I went through by raising money for more research I will feel a sense of achievement. I am fully aware the ride will be hard and push me and my asthma to the limits but I am prepared to do it. Please support me to raise money for this amazing charity. Thank you Becky x
