Story
From the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northeastern Minnesota, YMCA Camp Widjiwagan stands as a beacon of hope and transformation. For over eighty years, four generations of young lives have been profoundly impacted by the unique experiences offered at Widjiwagan. Through wilderness travel and environmental learning, campers have not only explored extraordinary places but have also built invaluable leadership skills and gained confidence that lasts a lifetime.
As we look to the future, we recognize the pressing need to sustain this long-standing tradition of exceptional camp experiences. The world is changing, and our youth need these opportunities now more than ever. Your support is crucial in ensuring that campers continue to develop character, build skills, learn from nature, and forge lasting friendships and memories.
How you donations support the camp:
$1000- One train counselor will become certified as a Wilderness First Responder
$230- One student will enjouy a week-long environmental education experience
$150- Provide one teen with support for one day of backpacking or canoeing wilderness experience.
$50- Campers will benefit from satellite phones for use on backpacking and canoe trips.
I invite you to join me and my son, Ben, the Executive Director of the camp, in this mission. By contributing to our campaign with a goal of $2,000 USD, you can help keep the spirit of YMCA Camp Widjiwagan alive for generations to come. Together, we can empower young people to thrive in their personal journeys and make a positive impact on their communities.
