Twelve amateur jockeys will take part in the Ernest Cooper Macmillan Ride of their Lives 2026 on Saturday 13 June 2025 at York Racecourse. The charity race is one of the highlights of Macmillan Charity Raceday, the single biggest fundraising event for the charity which has raised over £10m since its inception.
This is a huge challenge taking dedication and determination, and your support is crucial to help the team raise as much as possible for vital cancer services.
I currently work for York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a physiotherapist within primary care in Selby.
I was brought up in Middleton Pony Club, taking part in all disciplines from a young age before progressing into competitive riding. I spent five seasons point-to-pointing and achieved five winners. Over the last seven years, my focus has shifted to endurance sport, particularly triathlon, and I completed an Ironman in 2025. While my training has diversified, I have maintained a strong foundation in riding and horsemanship and am excited to return to the sport in this very special setting.
I would like to thank my grandad, Mick Easterby, and my uncle, David, for providing me with a horse. I would also love to emulate my sister, Jo Mason, and make it into the winners’ enclosure.
