In September 2023, Ben was diagnosed with myelofibrosis, a rare form of blood cancer. While there are treatments available to help manage myelofibrosis, currently the only cure is through a stem cell transplant.

Stem cell transplants can only work if there is a suitable match on the stem cell register. At the moment, there is not a suitable match for Ben, and that's where Anthony Nolan comes in. Anthony Nolan manages the stem cell register, searching for potential donors around the world who are already on the register, helping recruit new donors, and advancing cell therapies.
