Belfast Marrow - 'Brave The Shave'

Brave the Shave - Rev. Byard's Donation Drive
Hi all, my cause needs no introduction. What's one thing we all hate; one thing we can all come together in unison and fight against? -
Cancer. The "Big C." The thing that has affected millions of people and their families worldwide - myself included.
My life has been completely uprooted by the cancer diagnoses of some of my close friends, and family alike. As I'm sure it has for many of you too.
When my mum was sick, i think back to all the district nurses, Marie Curie workers, and hospice carers, who greatly improved her quality of life in her final years. I think of all the charities who help cancer patients and their families - such as the NI Cancer Fund for Children, who took me and my siblings in to distract us from how bleak things were. Charities do so much for families affected by cancer -
So it's about time i give back.
I am partnering with Marrow (Anthony Nolan), a blood cancer charity, to raise lifesaving funds for people waiting for a stem cell transplant. The organisation's goal is to add as many people to the Stem Cell Registry as possible, so that every single day, more and more potential donors can be found, for adults and young people who are waiting for a second chance at life.
Funds raised from this do not go towards alleviating my pain and suffering from losing my gorgeous, gorgeous hair - but they go towards alleviating the pain and suffering of those affected by cancer. Every donor we recruit and every life we save - I know would make my Mum very proud.

Belfast Marrow is a part of the network of lifesaving students who work with the blood cancer charity, Anthony Nolan. There are over 50 Marrow groups, with hundreds of student volunteers (like us!) in universities across the country, who are all working towards one thing - saving the lives of people with blood cancer.
Every 14 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. At Anthony Nolan, we match incredible people willing to donate their stem cells, to people with blood cancer who are in desperate need of a lifesaving transplant.
Marrow recruit one in four people who go on to donate stem cells, which means hundreds of lives are potentially saved by Marrow's incredible work.
It costs £40 to add each potential lifesaver to the stem cell register. Every penny and every pound that Belfast Marrow raises will help to continue saving the lives of people with blood cancer.
