I am trying to raise funds to support, Dr. Andrew Abutu, who was born in Nigeria and now lives in Georgia. Dr. Abutu attends my church and we are both Knights of Columbus. Specifically, Dr. Abutu is trying raise funds to complete the buildout of a new church back in his hometown in the capital city of Nigeria. Funds raised will be used to add a roof to the church.

THE CHALLENGE

Raising funds to build St. Agnes Catholic Church in the Wuye district of Abuja. Originally built in 2012 to accommodate 200 worshipers, the parish now welcomes over 1,000 attendees at weekly Mass, with many standing outside or gathering under trees and in local huts due to limited space. Currently, our brothers and sisters in Wuye have no church hall. They often meet under the blazing sun or under makeshift shelters during the rainy season.

THE SOLUTION

The mission to construct St. Agnes began in 2006, with a generous land donation by Sir Gordian Chukwuemeka, a prominent local Knight. Today, with the St. Brigid Knights of Columbus in Johns Creek, Georgia and Catholic World Mission working in partnership, we have launched a fundraising initiative to help complete St. Agnes Catholic Church. Catholic World Mission will match your gift dollar for dollar up to $50,000, and all donations will support the construction work at St. Agnes Catholic Church.
