Story
My name is Brian Primozich and I am the father to two amazing boys! In 2017, I was surprised with a rare disease diagnosis that was causing damage to my kidneys. At the time of diagnosis, my kidneys were already damaged to ~25-30% of function. Over the next 5 years, my health slowly declined and eventually reached a point that I struggled to do most day to day activities (which you can imagine with young boys was very difficult). In early 2022, my kidney function reached failure and I began dialysis as the search for a donor began.
I received a kidney from an incredibly generous and selfless living donor in the fall of 2022 and it changed my life! I had energy again to play with my boys and do activities that I enjoyed! I am excited to honor that donor's sacrifice by competing in events at the 2026 Transplant Games of America that I have loved my entire life - running and basketball. My health issues from kidney failure prevented me from doing most activities, especially running and racing, for several years and I am so excited to be back to competing in the 5K and on the track (400m, 800m, 1500m)! I will also be playing on the Team Iowa basketball team.
Team Iowa celebrates the gifts of organ, eye and tissue donation and encourages others to register as a donor. By competing in the Transplant Games of America we honor our donors, our donor families and celebrate life. The team consists of athletes and support members who participate in various events at the Transplant Games of America. Our athletes have received an organ, bone marrow, tissue or corneal transplant or are a living donor.
Help me and my team get to the 2026 Donate Life Transplant Games of America!
