Story

I’m walking to make a difference, will you support me?

This year, I’m proud to take part in Cornerstone’s 19th Annual Walk A Mile on Saturday, October 3rd in downtown Cobourg. I’m walking to stand with local families affected by gender-based violence, and I need your support.

Domestic violence is a serious social issue. It cuts across all social, economic and cultural lines, making it a global issue.

This pattern of violent behavior can take many different forms, such as physical, psychological, sexual or emotional abuse.

It may have serious consequences for a victim’s mental health, resulting in disorders such as depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder.

It is important for society to acknowledge and address this problem as soon as possible by giving victims assistance, resources and safe places in which to recover and restore their autonomy.

Cornerstone’s essential programs and services are more critical than ever. Just last year, they supported over 2,400 women, children, and youth across our community.

Together, we can create a place where hope takes root and grows.

Please consider donating to support my walk, and if you’re nearby, join me on Saturday, October 3rd and come cheer me on!
