Get Up There (GUT) 2026 · 6 March 2026 ·

GUT is a community event supporting the fight against colorectal cancer in collaboration with the DGHF. Join us on March 6 as we climb the hills of Wentworth to help improve FIT test return rates in Nova Scotia. Together, we can help save lives.

Story

Every day, one Nova Scotian dies from a disease that is 90% preventable: colorectal cancer.

We all know dear friends and family members who have been affected by this terrible disease. Nova Scotia has one of the highest incidence rates in the world.

Funds raised through GUT (Get Up There for Colorectal Cancer) are supporting a public awareness campaign to encourage more people to complete and return the FIT (Fecal Immunochemical Test) kit they receive in the mail.

Currently, only 45% of individuals who receive this free kit complete and return it. Early detection is the best weapon we have to fight colorectal cancer.

On March 6th, I'll be climbing Mt. Wentworth to help move the needle and save more lives.

Please join us on the climb or support a climber with a generous pledge.

Lives depend on it.
