Le 15 avril marquera le 11e anniversaire du décès de ma sœur Joanne, à la suite d’un long combat de cinq ans et demi contre un cancer du sein triple négatif qui s’est métastasé dans ses os, ses poumons, puis son cerveau.

J’ai eu le privilège d’accompagner ma sœur tout au long de sa maladie. Ensemble, nous avons participé à plusieurs activités organisées par la Société canadienne du cancer. Aujourd’hui, je ne peux imaginer une plus belle façon d’honorer sa mémoire.

Joanne a profondément marqué tous ceux qui l’ont connue par sa résilience, sa persévérance, sa joie de vivre et son franc-parler assumé. Elle m’a appris à reconnaître la puissance de l’Univers, à ralentir, à respirer et à apprécier la vie sans attentes… simplement se laisser porter.

Le 24 mai 2026, je sais qu’elle sera à mes côtés pour chacun des 21,1 km de cette course.

Ensemble, aidons à faire une différence pour toutes les personnes qui vivent actuellement avec le cancer. La Société canadienne du cancer offre un soutien essentiel aux patients et à leurs proches aidants.

April 15 will mark the 11th anniversary of my sister Joanne’s passing, following a long five-and-a-half-year battle with triple-negative breast cancer that metastasized to her bones, lungs, and eventually her brain.

I had the privilege of being by my sister’s side throughout her illness. Together, we took part in several activities organized by the Canadian Cancer Society. Today, I cannot think of a more meaningful way to honor her memory.

Joanne left a deep mark on everyone who knew her through her resilience, perseverance, joy for life, and her unapologetic honesty. She taught me to recognize the power of the Universe, to slow down, to breathe, and to appreciate life without expectations… simply to go with the flow.

On May 24, 2026, I know she will be by my side for every step of the 21.1 km race.

Together, let’s make a difference for all those currently living with cancer. The Canadian Cancer Society provides essential support to patients and their loved ones.
