Overlook Foundation Junior Board: Taking Cardiology to Heart

Hello, my name is Chloe Stadlin and I am Junior at Westfield High School currently serving on the Junior Board of Overlook Hospital. I joined the Junior Board to learn from talented healthcare professionals while working to raise funds to support care in our community. I believe that our neighbors should have access to the highest quality of care and lifesaving treatments in their local hospital. Unfortunately, heart disease and cardiac events are common amongst people of all ages, and can be life threatening. By raising funds on behalf of the Cardiology Department at Overlook Hospital, we will help to strengthen care and improve outcomes.
In the United States, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups. In fact, one person dies every 33 seconds from cardiovascular disease. In Overlook’s cardiac catheterization labs, physicians can detect blockages or abnormalities of the heart’s blood vessels, arteries, valves, and chambers, and perform angioplasties, echocardiograms, and pacemaker implantations. And now the hospital’s state-of-the-art cardiology center will feature single rooms that offer intensive, intermediate, and standard acute care without moving patients. For those whose conditions are not stable enough for transfer to a regular hospital room, the new CCU will provide the highest level of medical monitoring and care around the clock.
Thank you for contributing to this worthwhile cause and supporting cardiac care in our community.
