My Chapter in the Story

Reading Legacies connects families through the practice of reading aloud, in correctional facilities, recovery programs, shelters, and schools across San Diego County. The work intrigued me the first time I heard about it, and I have been all in ever since.

In my own family, reading aloud has been how we find each other across generations. My son Caleb grew up on the Inside Out books. We read them together, acted them out, passed them to his younger cousins. Today he performs in theatre productions and carries every one of those emotions on stage. Some of that started with a book and a living room floor.

That is what Reading Legacies gives to families who need it most. A moment that belongs entirely to them.
