Story
Hey everyone,
I want to take a moment to share something that’s been a big part of my journey since I sustained a spinal cord injury during a rugby match in 2017. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to receive incredible support from the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), and one of the most impactful moments for me was when an SCI nurse helped me advocate for my care. She worked alongside my local hospital to put together an “Emergency Care Plan,” and even coordinated with midwives to make sure our daughter’s birth was everything we hoped for. It made a huge difference in making us feel heard and supported in a system where we could of been overlooked
Another massive help has been the monthly delivery of catheters and medication directly to my door. This service is specific to people with spinal injuries and has been a game-changer for me. It’s one less thing I have to think about each month, and it makes life that much easier.
This is just the tip of the iceberg to the support that they drive amongst our community.
I’m reaching out today to ask for your support in raising funds for SIA. Every year, 4,400 people will sustain a spinal cord injury, and the funds raised help provide essential services and support for people like me. Every penny counts, and if you’re unable to donate, even just sharing my ‘Go Fund Me’ helps raise awareness and makes a difference.
Thank you so much for reading, and for any support you can give!
