Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'll be running the London Marathon on 25th April 2027, raising money for the Spinal Injuries Association.

For those who don't know my sister Stevie, she was the runner in the family, having tackled 3 marathons while also being an avid snowboarder. In 2020, Stevie's life changed after she went into hospital for an operation. During her recovery, she was diagnosed with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), an autoimmune condition where her antibodies attacked her own nervous system.

Stevie ended up paralysed from the neck down and lost sight in her right eye. As the weeks in hospital went on, it looked increasingly likely she might never walk again. After 4 months, Stevie defied all odds and managed to move her toe, a simple movement most of us take for granted, but it gave her the belief to keep pushing in her recovery. then parts of her upper body started to move, then eventually she regained movement in her legs. With the support of her husband, Stevie took her first steps, and she's kept improving ever since.

The harsh reality is Stevie will never fully recover. But that has never stopped her pushing, every single day.

In April 2026, Stevie walked 9 miles of the London Marathon herself. Watching her take on that course, and seeing everything she's fought through to get there, is what motivated me to sign up and run the full marathon myself.

To get to the start line, I need to raise £2,000.

The Spinal Injuries Association is the leading UK charity supporting people affected by spinal cord injury from a specialist support line and peer mentoring, to helping people navigate care, housing, employment and the huge life adjustments that come after an injury like Stevie's. Every donation helps them keep reaching people at the moment they need it most.

Please sponsor me whatever you can every pound gets me closer to that start line, and helps SIA support people like Stevie find their new normal.

Thank you so much for reading, and for your support.
