Story
In 2021, my world was upended by a Stage 3 bowel cancer diagnosis.
I was in total shock. I was in my 30s and had always been healthy— To go from a peak physical milestone to a cancer diagnosis out of the blue was a reality that rocked me.
I would be lying if I said the diagnosis didn't shake my foundation. I was incredibly fortunate to have a rock-solid support network of family and colleagues, but even with that support, a diagnosis like this brings a level of uncertainty that's hard to describe.
Throughout my recovery, Macmillan Cancer Support was a vital resource. Their booklets, forums, and resources provided the clarity and grounding I needed when the road ahead felt overwhelming. They ensure that high-quality information and expert support are accessible to everyone, helping to navigate the complexities that come with a diagnosis.
One month from today—March 27th at 8:00 AM—I’ll be standing on the start line at London Olympia.
I’m taking on the HYROX Men’s Open Individual challenge to give back. It’s a grueling race: 8km of running and 8 functional workout stations. To prepare, I’ve committed to a disciplined 5-day-a-week training block to push my body back to its full potential.
* My Performance Target: A sub-90-minute finish.
* The Mission: To raise £2,500 for Macmillan.
Whether it’s £39 for an hour of nursing care or £10 for vital resource booklets, your support ensures that no one has to navigate the uncertainty of cancer alone.
To anyone currently going through cancer treatment: I know it feels incredibly dark right now. I know the weight of the "what-ifs." But I am living proof that your story does not end with a diagnosis. Strength is often built in the shadows, and there is a vibrant, active, and powerful life waiting for you on the other side. Keep fighting, keep leaning on your people, and know that recovery is possible.
I’m putting in the miles to represent this cause. If you are able to support my fundraising efforts, please click the link above.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
