Emma's fundraiser for Overlook Foundation

My name is Emma Darrow, I am a junior at Westfield High School and proud to be a current trustee on the Junior Board of the Overlook Hospital Foundation! My passion is health science, and I am thrilled to be a part of helping Overlook Hospital provide exceptional medical care for our community.
This year we are raising money for The Stacey Goldstein Breast Center at Overlook Medical Center. Initial funding for the breast center was made possible through a gift to the Overlook Foundation by Ed and Suzann Goldstein. The center honors the memory of their daughter, Stacy, who lost her 12-year battle with breast cancer in 2001 at the age of 37. As a young woman,
I have witnessed too many women close to me battle breast cancer. Inspired by the Goldsteins, please help me make a meaningful and positive contribution in making Overlook the number one breast center in the state!
Timely access to breast exams and intervention is critical to the ever-growing number of patients seeking screening and diagnostic procedures. While one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, 65% of cases are diagnosed at the localized stage, leading to a 5-year survival rate of 99%.
Expansion of the Stacy Goldstein Breast Center at Overlook will provide significantly increased capacity for screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds and biopsies. Renovations are being made to waiting areas, consultation spaces, and procedure rooms; next-generation ultrasound and mammography machines are being added; and the center’s medical team is poised to play a leading role in advancing education, research, and treatment surrounding breast health.
