For my bar mitzvah project, I have decided to participate in a 5k to raise funds for Camp Ramah in California. Camp Ramah is my home away from home, and every year I wait 11 long months to be back on the givah in Ojai with my friends. Ramah is not just a summer camp; it is a place where Jewish children learn to love Judaism and Israel, practice the traditions and rituals of the Jewish people in a fun and meaningful way, and make friendships that last forever. As an example of how powerful the friendships I have made at Ramah are, my entire tent from last summer has traveled all over Southern California, and we will be going to Arizona, to make sure we celebrate each other's b’nai mitzvah together.

I am the third generation of my family to attend Camp Ramah. My grandfather, great uncle, dad, aunts and cousins were all campers and staff there, and now my brother, second cousins, and I are carrying on that tradition. Many of you are Ramah campers (present and past) and know how special camp is, and how important it is for ensuring the Jewish future. I am turning to you - my family and friends - to help me raise money for Camp Ramah, to ensure it continues to be a home away from home for the next generation. My goal is to raise $3,600. All of the money I raise will go directly to camp programming and operations, and to ensure that children whose families cannot afford the Ramah experience will receive the same opportunity that I have been so fortunate to have.
