Story
Im running the 2026 NYC Marathon with SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) this November!
SCOPE is a national nonprofit funder of overnight summer camp and college scholarships, creating pathways to potential through Camp, Classroom, College, and Career for children and teens from under-resourced communities who commit to staying in school. Campership recipients commit to staying in school in order to gain access to attend nonprofit, ACA-accredited, overnight, SCOPE partner camps, at no cost to their family.
If you know me, you know how much summer camp means to me. My camp experience began in 2009 at YMCA Camp Chingachgook, and it quickly became more than just a summer thing. It’s where I grew up. It’s where I found confidence, independence, and some of the most important people in my life. Over the years, I went from camper to staff, and eventually into the Summer Program Director where I got to help shape that same experience for others.
In one of my roles at camp, I had the opportunity to work directly with SCOPE. I wasn’t just hearing about the mission, but instead I was part of it. I helped give out camperships and worked directly with the families we were impacting. I got to see, firsthand, what it means for a child to be given the chance to go to camp when they otherwise wouldn’t be able to.
Running a marathon has been a “maybe someday” goal of mine for a while, but running the New York City Marathon is something I’ve dreamt of since I was a kid and I am so excited to finally fulfill that dream in support of SCOPE because every kid deserves the chance to experience summer camp.
Every dollar raised helps send more kids to camp, and I thank you for the support!
See you in November, NYC…lets do this!!
