Story
CKUA is an important source of music, arts, and culture in my life, and it is so much more than radio. It's a place where independent artists from across Alberta and around the world find a home. I hear musical playlists on CKUA that I wouldn't hear on any other station, because the hosts are knowledgeable music fans and musicians themselves. You can listen live or on demand at CKUA.com anytime.
You may know that the station started almost 100 years ago at the University of Alberta, but did you know that they have been independent and donor-supported for many years? The majority of CKUA’s annual operations these days are supported by listener donations.
For example, CKUA brings musical variety to rural areas without WiFi across the province, which is a really important part of their work. But to operate the transmitter network and stream the feed online, it costs CKUA about $30,000 per MONTH! Let's fund some of that access together.
Thank you for supporting my campaign!
