Little Black Dress Initiative September 2026

Gabriela Javier is raising money for Junior League Of Washington

JLW's Little Black Dress Initiative · 14 September 2026 to 18 September 2026 ·

The Junior League of Washington’s 2026 Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) raises awareness of intimate partner and domestic violence in the DC metro area and funds Community Assistance Fund Grants that support organizations serving survivors.

Story

Intimate partner and domestic violence affect thousands across the DC region each year. DC SAFE reports more than 32,000 domestic violence-related police calls annually, with survivors facing major barriers to safety, housing, and trauma‑informed care.

From September 14-18, 2026, JLW members will wear the same black dress/outfit for five days to raise awareness and funds for JLW’s Community Assistance Fund Grants, which award up to $5,000 to DC‑area nonprofits supporting survivors’ critical needs.

Every donation makes a difference. Help us reach our goal of $40,000 goal—eight Community Assistance Fund Grants—during this week‑long campaign. Your contribution directly supports DC‑area nonprofits and the survivors they serve.
