Although I said I would never run another marathon again, I am pleased to announce that I will be running in the 128th Boston Marathon on April 15th. I am embarking on this challenge for one reason and one reason only: in honor and memory of my brother Brendan Quinn who passed away in April of 2022. Brendan was passionate about running and dedicated his time to training and he completing in numerous marathons, but he never had the chance to run the Boston Marathon. On April 15th, I am running for Brendan.
Brendan and I were born and raised in MetroWest Boston, specifically Southborough. From participating in Southborough youth sports to both graduating from Algonquin Regional High School, our lives were centered around the loving and caring community that only the MetroWest can offer. It was an incredible part of the state to grow up in – so much so that I am now raising my family here in Holliston. In addition, it is where I have worked for the last 12+ years of my life. Friends have nicknamed me “Mr. MetroWest” (I’ve been called worse! 😊).
It was only fitting that while I run this Boston Marathon in memory of Brendan that I do it by supporting the region my family and I call home – where some of my fondest memories with him took place. For more than 27 years, the Community Foundation for MetroWest (CFMW) has continued to unite 30+ communities in their shared mission to make the region I know and love a better place for everyone: investing in access to mental health services, providing financial and educational resources to local nonprofit organizations, supporting our hunger relief organizations, youth development, family support, and and partnering with donors to help guide and align their giving with the areas of greatest need in the community.
The ONEmetrowest Fund was launched to help continue that pursuit. 100% of the dollars I raise in honor of Brendan will go to support the ONEmetrowest Fund. Please consider making a gift to this Fund and honoring my brother. The Community Foundation for MetroWest’s impact on those with less resources in this community is immeasurable. They are creating a more equitable community for all who live here!
