Story
Assalamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
My name is Hamza, and this Ramadan I am partnering with Islamic Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF) — one of Canada’s Top 100 charities — to provide urgent food assistance to families in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan has always been close to my heart, and after visiting for the first time, that connection only deepened. It is heartbreaking knowing that while many of us prepare for Ramadan surrounded by comfort and stability, countless families are struggling simply to secure their next meal. Parents are sacrificing daily so their children can eat. In a month meant for mercy, reflection, and blessings, many households worry about how they will prepare suhoor or iftar.
I cannot ignore that reality.
This Ramadan, I have set a goal to raise *$2,500*, which will provide **25 families** with essential *food packages*. Each package costs **$100** and sustains a *family of 6–7 for an entire month*. Tax receipts will be provided.
Each $100 food package includes:
12 kg Rice
20 kg Flour
1 kg Loose Leaf Green Tea
1 kg Dates
5 kg Red Beans
3 kg Chickpeas
3 kg Lentils
2 kg Sugar
1 kg Tomato Paste
These packages will be distributed to the most vulnerable families in Kunduz and Balkh provinces during Ramadan 2026, insha’Allah.
For many of us, $100 may be a small expense. For a family in need, it means a month of nourishment, dignity, and peace of mind. It means being able to break their fast with food on the table and hope in their hearts.
I humbly ask you to join me in making a difference. Even sponsoring one family can transform their Ramadan.
May Allah accept from all of us, multiply your rewards, and place barakah in your generosity this blessed month.
Donations of $10 CAD or more will receive a tax-deductible receipt from IDRF.
