Walk for Joy, Walk for Thriving, Walk for Aloha

33rd Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence · 6 October 2024 ·
I have spent the past 3 years coming alongside survivors of domestic violence at Jeanne Geiger. The work can be intense, and at the same time I've never felt more joyful or inspired. I get to see the magical journey humans take from victims to survivors to THRIVERS.
It would bring me immense pleasure to share with you a taste of the delight I experience in my JGCC community. Would you think about joining me for our Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence?
This year's Walk will be held on Sunday, October 6th at Newburyport’s Waterfront Park (36 Merrimac St); the start time is 10 AM. It's a beautiful 3-mile walk, welcoming to all ages and abilities; dogs are welcome, too! If walking isn't physically accessible this year, feel free to show up to cheer on the walkers, enjoy the food trucks, and bless the space with your presence.
This is one of the Center’s largest fundraisers of the year. Proceeds from this event allow us to provide free, safe, and confidential programs and services to 16 local communities.
Please consider participating in any of the following ways:
1 - Walk with us. Your physical presence and energy at the event would be such a treat! Registration is free and you can sign up to walk here: https://jeannegeigercrisiscenter.org/walk-registration/
2 - Join us in spirit. If you live far away, think about taking a walk of your own and sending some love and light toward those suffering the impacts of domestic/intimate partner violence.
3 - Nudge me toward my fundraising goal. If a financial contribution feels joyful to you, that would be wonderful!
This year, I'm doing something special: for every dollar a friend contributes to Jeanne Geiger's work in NE Massachusetts, I'll contribute a dollar to the Hawai'i State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, up to $500.
For those of you who don't know, I grew up on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Support for DV organizations is underfunded across our nation, and the challenges are particularly intense in Hawai'i. I want to spread the spirit of Aloha from coast to coast for this year's walk; I hope you'll consider helping to make it happen!
4 - Join my team! If you like, you can create your own fundraising page and join my team. Together we can make an even bigger impact and work towards a collective fundraising goal as a team.
5 - Harness social media. I rarely utilize social media, so if you are skilled in that area and want to spread the word in your circles, that would be a lovely gift.
Let's envision and build a future where all members of the human family live out the spirit of Aloha - love, regard, breath of life.
Blessings and gratitude!
