Story

I will join Team JDRF for the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 21 April 2024. JDRF supports those living with type 1 diabetes, and their mission is to find a cure.

I will be running the marathon in memory of Will Wells who sadly passed away in 2021, and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2.

My goal is to raise £2,000. Every pound raised for JDRF could go towards:

£20:

Could enable 20 parents to return to work, safe in the knowledge that their child's type 1 diabetes will be carefully managed at school, thanks to JDRF's e-learning modules.

£65:

Could help a vital research project progress by paying for one hour of research time

£500:

Could pay for 5 people to be screened for type 1 diabetes. Sadly, people in the UK still die from un-diagnosed type 1 diabetes complications - this screening could stop this.

£1,000:

Could pay for a JDRF discovery day providing information and support for up to 200 people

£5,000:

Could help pay for a new drugs test which reduces or eliminates a person's need for insulin.

£50,000:

Could help pay for a year's use of the facilities needed to run a clinical trial aiming to stop or prevent type 1 diabetes.
