Y Camps have had such a significant impact on our family! Maddy, Henry, and I started attending family camp when they were in early elementary school. They both loved the camp counselors, and I was amazed at how much the outdoor experiences built their skills and confidence. Isaac Patterson was one of their early counselors! I remember thinking how proud the parents of the camp counselors must be of their young adults.

We participated in the first work weekend at Camp Northern Lights before it opened, and we were hooked! Both kids were LDPs at CNL, and both spent their first two summers after high school as counselors. In Henry's second summer, he was the naturalist. They credit so many of their skills now to camp -- their ability to think on their feet, to navigate all kinds of ages and stages of humans, and to build authentic relationships. The North Woods or places like it are still their most favorite places to be.
